Corey Dorrance
Biographical Info My name is Corey Dorrance. I hold a Fine Arts from UW-Madison. Life is short and times are getting pretty serious. But I don’t think that means we should take ourselves too seriously finding a bit of humor in any moment is good for the soul! I like to work pretty spontaneously creating layer upon layer and mixing up whatever colors call to me. Then I feel what image wants to be shown and when it’s “done” I look for a quote that sums up something wise and may even draw a smile. I‘ve recently delved into the abstract in a move to see & understand that process. This abstract rabbit hole is providing me with a lot of joy exploring the spontaneity of randomly creating layers with the use of color to see where it takes me. I have found it quite freeing and love how the creating of it moves along as you listen to what’s on the page. In the midst of the pandemic we moved back to my hometown of Green Bay and settled into a new home complete with space to make my own as a studio. My mixed media draws upon years using artistic skills & mediums I’ve experienced. I’ve been an artistic director, set designer, set painter, advertising layout artist, costume designer & creator plus many more avenues of creativity!
