Judy Robb
Biographical Info I am a north American artist and live in a remote rural woodsy setting in the southern end of the Driftless region. I am an agrarian, gatherer and hunter and often refer to my current experience as that of the constant camper. My work varies with the seasons, is based on what I have been pondering for some time or merely a spontaneous idea. I paint the nature I see in my surroundings, often incorporating historical this and that into my work, depending on what pops into my mind when preparing to create a new piece. Experience, logic and emotion. People past and present. Wisconsin’s flora and fauna. A goal is to capture nature’s imagery in a manner that conveys the subjects’ personalities in a hopeful and thought-provoking manner. I feel a sense of alchemy in my work, allowing it to evolve as I work through a piece not really knowing the final outcome. An artist and technologist with a MS in Human-Computer Interaction from DePaul University, I align thinking on the human experience and how visitors interact with a piece of art, the physical space of art’s presentation as well as how technology can augment that experience. I worked extensively with renowned museums via my time with IBM, crafting digital and immersive experiences leveraging new twists on technology. My work as a Creative Director with IBM includes the National Museum of African American History and Culture (Smithsonian) in Washington DC. I received a BA from the University of Wisconsin. I work primarily in oil on Belgian linen, canvas and Arches paper. I like the historical vibe I get from working with oil paint. I also like to mash up multiple mediums to bring things to life in thought-provoking ways.
