SEONJOO So
Biographical Info As a Korean immigrant, I have Korean traditional skills of paper crafts and recycling paper arts. From my ancestors, I learned how to make paper from mulberry wood, how to create precious items using the Hanji (Korean traditional handmade paper), and how to develop teaching instruction for next generations. And I also recreate useful materials from used paper like newspapers and milk cartons. Using diverse textured papers and paper coils, or paper clays, I would like a picture like a half three dimensional painting with a volume figure in the frame. Using milk cartons, I had made several maps of Korea, the United States of America, and the whole world with Public School students. Otherwise, I made paper strings with thin cut newspapers for creating different shapes of pottery style artworks or diverse designs. Since 1996, I have been working with papers using folding, carving, coiling, decorating, and creating artworks. I have felt almost like paper arts and crafts for about thirty years.
