Mitch Rosefelt
Biographical Info My 40-year artistic journey has included designing and creating sculptural furniture, digital visual effects for feature films, graphics and animation for various entertainment and educational uses and now AI-generated art. Throughout my career, I’ve subscribed to ‘the explore school of design’ – an approach to creating that involves experimentation and observation until results that are aesthetically or conceptually compelling emerge. As a computer graphic artist/IT specialist, I have a front-row seat from which to watch as we drift ever deeper into the astonishing age of the algorithm. With paradigm shifts in technology arriving at an unprecedented pace, each exponentially amplifying the potential of human endeavor, artificial intelligence provides us with an algorithmic distillation of the entire human experience. For the arts, AI is an unprecedented tool for storytelling that weaves threads from our world of emotion, culture, and science into extraordinarily imaginative works. Since the dawn of civilization, we have been driven to use the technology of the day to explore and express our deepest thoughts, emotions, and aspirations. I am continually amazed – and often alarmed – by where technology is leading us, and I can only wonder that what I am doing now is simply the modern version of finger painting on the wall of a cave.
