Pamela Anderson

Pamela Anderson

Biographical Info The scale of Anderson’s work and the boldness in mark making aid in self-expression that empowers her. She strives to invent a signature that expands on the foundation of abstraction. It is a space where she explores voice: She is soft-spoken, a Midwestern woman on the outside, but when painting, she is anything but quiet. A Milwaukee, Wisconsin artist, Pamela Anderson, brings a modern dimension to her abstract works. She documents the simplest and rawest of moments in a permanent way. Using large mops, brushes, and a variety of taping knives and scraping tools to make marks on canvas. Her process is fluid, guided by intuition, presented by the honesty of the materials, within the layers of paint. She often leaves her work untitled which allows the artwork to be experienced with open interpretation by the viewer. Pamela studied with Terrance Coffman, a nationally and internationally acclaimed artist for several years. She is an autodidact, born with a gift. She realized at an early age that she responded to art, specifically color and the creative process. As a professional, full time working artist today, she is always curious and eager to enter her studio to create, experiment and learn. Today Pamela has her studio in the Marshall Building, in the Historic Third Ward with her husband, Steven Kaishian where she assists her husband in running his business, Infrastructure Canvas, a wholesale artist canvas business. She participated in the 2019-20 MARN Mentor – Mentee program working with a group of local established artists to mentor emerging artists in the Greater Southeastern Wisconsin area. In 2016-17 she was honored with the award and title of Pfister Artist in Residence at the Pfister Hotel in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Included in her artistic practice, her love for shape, and form manifests in her design and creation of functional sculpture, modern hardware for her company, Contemporary Pull. She debuted her company and hardware at the Architectural Digest Home and Design Show in New York in 2014. Her hardware was featured in Handmade for Home, The Craft of Contemporary Design, Invitational Show, Museum of Wisconsin Art, West Bend, WI in 2019.The hardware collection has been published in national and international publications and online blogs. Her works are held in private and corporate collections including Mandel Group, Pfister Hotel, Marcus Corporation’s Saint Kates Arts Hotel, Northwestern Mutual, Michael Best and Friedrich Law, Reinhardt Law, Husch Blackwell Law, Academy of Asheville.  Pamela brings her passion for the arts, business, community and twenty plus years of experience in community service to her position as Board Chair of MARN. She is a full-time artist, an Affiliate and Managing Director of Material Studios + Gallery where she leads a group of 18-24 emerging and established artists in creating sustainable practices, offering equitable and affordable professional studio space to develop and market their work.
