Biographical Info I use graphic forms and unconventional printmaking techniques to contemplate themes of human behaviors, decision-making, and my personal identity. My artmaking process incorporates elements of chance and spontaneity as a primary driver of the work. My prints are created using poor technique and purposely going against best practices in screenprinting. In doing so, I disconnect the medium of silkscreen printing from it’s common use as a mode of premeditated image-making or commercial product production. Thus, my prints become artifacts of mindfulness and intuitive thinking. This process invites the medium of printmaking into a context it is not often found: as a tool of abstract expressionism. ——— Born and raised near Milwaukee, WI, Madison received her BFA from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities where she interned at the Katherine E Nash Gallery and Highpoint Center for Printmaking. In 2015, Madison curated, organized, and installed an exhibition titled “third.wav” about the voice of feminism in the digital age, on view at the Quarter Gallery in Minneapolis for four weeks. After graduation, Madison moved to Houston, TX where she worked at the arts advocacy organization, Fresh Arts, and engaged closely with the local creative community. She continued creating and exhibiting work while living in The South before settling back in Milwaukee. In 2018 and 2023, she was a participating artist in Var Gallery’s annual 30x30x30 Exhibition, showcasing a collection of variable screen prints. She currently works out of her home printmaking studio in Bay View.
