Mark Nelson

Biographical Info Mark has shown his work in more than 100 solo or group exhibitions and has had more than 60 publications. Visual work includes illustration, fine art painting and drawing, video, animation, installation, and performance. He has been a digital art practitioner for over thirty years, while still engaging in his predigital passions, such as pen and ink. One interesting publication that shows the impact of his work beyond the art world is the Styles of Houses page he created for the World Book Encyclopedia, which has been showing people the basic architectural styles in republication for over 20 years. Another example is his coloring book illustration of Bascom Hall, which was published in the Wisconsin State Journal so that it could be colored and hung on refrigerators across the region. He completed a Certificate in Drawing for the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, as well as a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His near -term goal is to execute large scale murals that build on his spray painting works of the last ten years.
