Michelle Louis

Biographical Info “Artist and naturalist, I’m curious about how the land inspires awe, how we feel it deep in our bones, how to express that relationship, and what we can learn from it. My perspective is deeply influenced by opportunities to live, work, and study in rainforests from Mexico to the Bolivian Amazon. At home in Wisconsin, exploring the contrasting landscapes formed at the last glacier’s edge gives form to a living palette ready for my brush. Abstract expressionist in process, my work explores pattern, connection, and kinship in the natural world.” Best known for large, abstract landscapes, artist and naturalist Michelle Louis has exhibited in group and solo shows worldwide. Her work is held in private, corporate, and public collections in the U.S. and abroad. She’s licensed work to designers and consultants for projects large and small. Trained in studio art, landscape architecture, and graphic design, Michelle Louis works full-time as an artist in Middleton, Wisconsin, USA. Her studio extends to her yard, where she nurtures an edible landscape that includes 8 kinds of berries.
