Biographical Info
I coached gymnastics for 20 years, and made art part time, mostly abstract painting and printing. Over time, I drifted into working with fiber. My work has been exhibited nationally, internationally , and is part of private and pubic collections including the international Quilt Museum in Lincoln ,NE. Working in my home studio, I create art every day, and share my work at regional art fairs throughout the year. I love the textural elements, the meditative activity of stitching and the intense color saturation and spontaneity of hand-dyeing. I work in a fairly improvisational manner, often listening to jazz music while I work. Working playfully with re-purposed,& cast-off materials, I explore notions of need, want, excess & waste. I paint with fabric& thread. Music & life experiences inspire me The improvisation series is a body of work that employs spontaneous composition, which reflects my background in, and love of music, movement and rhythm. Most recently I have been exploring building large scale onsite installation with recycled materials.
