James Whaley
Biographical Info Jim Whaley started pursuing his artwork later in life, previously working in tech related areas until several battles with cancer forced an early retirement. Originally just a hobby, but after successfully entering several competitions, he began to explore exhibitions in galleries and museums across the country. During 2022, he took most of the year off from calls for art to begin building a wider body of work and shifted from landscapes and abstracts to portraits and digital collages, and started to participate in Instagram art challenges. In 2023, he began participating in art calls again, in hopes of putting some of the newly learned styles and techniques into a gallery setting. He is primarily working on iPad based digital art, but manages to have an extremely cluttered “art room” filled with acrylics, gouache, brushes, canvases, and cat hair for those times when you just need something with texture and… aroma??? I don’t know, artists are weird….
