Donna Genzmer

Biographical Info
Donna’s previous career in cartography encompassed decades of teaching and leadership. This discipline, which combines the fields of science, data and design, has informed her pursuit of fine art in retirement.
Donna’s practice embraces the natural environment and its cultural context. Natural materials, including from her dye garden, figure in her work. Donna employs environmentally conscious methods to produce color, line and form. She reuses and repurposes to lessen the impact of waste while telling a story.
While fiber and textiles have spoken to her since childhood, Donna explores mixed mediums in her creative process. She is intrigued by serendipity and endless possibilities.
Changes over space and time inform her work. Donna’s goal is to foster introspection in our interactions with the environment.
