Abigail Engstrand
Biographical Info
Abigail Engstrand is a visual artist, observing humanity and nature. A descendant of Dutch immigrants, she has lived most of her life near Lake Michigan. She earned her B.F.A. and her Art Teaching certificate at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, in 1988. She loves water,big cities, people watching, language-listening, cultural exchange, traveling and returning to her garden and studio in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. She is a member of Wisconsin Visual Artists, Walker’s Point Center of the Arts, Milwaukee Artists Resource Network, and A.R.C. Gallery and Education Foundation in Chicago. Her work has been featured in juried group and solo exhibits, at ARC, Jewish Museum Milwaukee, WPCA, MARN A&C HUB and James May Gallery in Milwaukee, Schauer Arts Center Hartford, and Oconomowoc Arts Center. Engstrand’s art is in private collections across the United States, and in Europe. In addition to her watercolor, acrylic, mixed-media and fiber paintings, Abigail has created murals for individuals, businesses and schools, including stage backdrops for plays. She engages people with her 5 minute live charcoal portraits and personalized commissions. Her art practice is an expression of empathy and a celebration of life on Earth.
