Biographical Info Barbara Budish was born and lives in Milwaukee, WI. She is a digital and hands-on visual artist, and is passionate about fine art and conceptual photography. She has been an active participant in group art/photography exhibits of various sorts and has had two solo shows since 2014. She was a participant in Gallery Night MKE Spring 2023, was selected for the WVA Artist Showcase 2023 at the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha and at Walker’s Point Center for the Arts (WPCA) for the Electric Eclectic IV photography show 2022-2024. She participated in a juried photography show with Coalition of Photographic Arts (COPA) in 2023 at WPCA. She frequents art museums and the local art scene for trends and inspiration to keep herself “current” and feed her constant creative energies. Her avid interest in art and photography started at a very young age. She was self- disciplined with daily drawing as a child and delved into experimental photography, starting with Instamatic cameras, SLRs and view cameras into her teens and adulthood. It was her high school teacher who encouraged her to go into graphic design. With that advice, Barbara pursued that goal and worked as a senior graphic designer, sometimes in an illustrator role for four decades! She believes that’s what really sparked her into conceptual art expression. Her first job out of college was a fashion illustrator and ad layout artist for newspaper advertisng at a Waukesha department store. As years went by, she branched out into designing and at times, illustrating, for two large retailers, a large Racine publishing company that expanded her creativity, art direction for a magazine, senior designer for a direct B2B marketing firm and a nonprofit organization. These work experiences led to further the development of skills in digital and visual art, along with event, exploratory and fine art photography. Due to the variety of work, she became more versatile with various styles reflected in her personal photography and art, with her work typically conveying a message. She continues to progress along in her creative endeavors with new discoveries in technology and utilizing more mixed media in her art. As Keith Haring put it, “art should be something that liberates your soul, provokes the imagination and encourages people to go further.”
