Biographical Info

My interests range over diverse categories of subject matter. I choose to pursue a variety of ways of working, although it may appear that I have multiple personalities. The intellectual/feminist part of me explores gender roles as reflected in family photographs and art historical imagery. I also explore dreams and memory. The images are less particularized and the exact meaning unknown. The reappearance of archways, stairs and mists intrigues me. A third part of me is a lover of the light and color of landscape. I have painted over 600 views from my studio windows and my travels in Italy during the last 10 years. I resist the notion that this may be an outdated Modernist approach to artmaking and follow my heart.
I served as the chair of the Southeast Chapter of WVA. My biggest achievement was in organizing the events at Alverno College for the Japanese Exchange. This took a lot of coordination with the Japanese organizers, individual Japanese artists and their local hosts, scheduling with the entire college and local community, as well as with multiple academic departments. I communicated with the Japanese organizer regarding artist local home placements.
I also served as Program co-chair and Membership chair. I worked closely with the South Central and North Eastern chapters on a statewide basis. I assisted with the Biennial and helped with multiple other WVA exhibits where manpower was needed. I was a program provider for the chapter and was featured in newsletters several times.
