Marie Mellott
Marie Mellott is a Milwaukee artist working with soft pastel chalk to express her abstract compositions. She has been a professional artist since 1980 after graduating with a fine arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is interested in form, colors and shapes inspired by nature and poetry.
Marie has shown her art in several states and in Germany. She has had a dozen solo shows and is in at least thirty private collections. Her work is included in the permanent collection of the Yeiser Art Center, Paducah, Kentucky.
Her further areas of interest include collaborations with music, dance, and theater. She has been interviewed by Hal Rammell of the MSOE radio station and the Romanian National Radio, Bucharest, Romania. Her video collage, “Yehuda Yannay: A Journey of a Lifetime,” recently was featured in the Romanian Journal Egophobia.
Marie was on the board in the 80’s and 90’s, and served as the treasurer and fundraiser for the Wisconsin Visual Artists when it was mainly the southeast chapter.
