Kristin Thielking

Kristin Thielking lives in Amherst Junction, WI and is Professor Emerita of Sculpture at University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. She received a BA in Fine Art and Comparative Literature from Brown University, RI and an MFA in Visual Art with an emphasis on Sculpture and Glass from University of Wisconsin Madison.
She works in a wide range of materials and processes from drawing and printmaking to glass, sculpture and site-specific installations. has a special interest in working with language as a material and work that inspires dialogue about the state of the environment and environmental stewardship.Thielking exhibits her work internationally and creates large-scale public works and installations with partner Keven Brunett including projects for: Wisconsin Percent for the Arts, Marshfield Medical Center, Medical College of Wisconsin, University of Indianapolis, Olbrich Botanical Gardens, WI, Magee-Gerrer Museum of Art, OK, Hudson Museum of Contemporary Art, NY, among others. She has been a teaching artist and artist-in-residence at arts organizations including John Michael Kohler Arts Industry Foundry Program, WI, Vermont Studio Center, VT and Penland School of Crafts, NC. Thielking is a founding member of Catching a Wave, an international collaborative organization of scientists, artists, sociologists, and writers. www.catchingawave.org, and of the artist collective: Ladyfoot with Bridget Carpenter and Michelle Swineheart. The Ladyfooters were most recently artists-in-residence at Lenka Clayton and Philip Lewis’s studio in Pittsburgh.
