Biographical Info
He makes a wide range of wood-carved masks, of which some are human, animals and imaginary creatures, often based on Japanese history and folklore.
Hideki Suzuki was born and grew up in Japan, thus his work pieces are strongly influenced by Japanese culture. In his early childhood, he spent a considerable amount of time in water color, oil painting, and graphite drawing. Over the last 20 years, wood working has been his primary interest; however, the last six years, he has focused on carving masks. The overall method of his mask making is similar to that of the masks used in the traditional Japanese stage play, Noh.
