Biographical Info

Born in 1945, I was born and raised in NE Wisconsin. Father brought me paper by the ream from his paper mill job. Mom taught me how to draw and they kept a steady supply of crayons and pencils. Attending college in Art and Art Education in Madison in the late 60’s I realized a dream of becoming an artist/art teacher. My area is watercolor/gouache painting and illustration in pen & ink and watercolor. Nature, still life and living beings are my favorite themes. The things and environment that surround us every day are my inspiration. I’m fascinated with plants, animals, clouds and interesting faces and objects. Textures, colors, light are the tints and tones that bring it together for me in inspiring ways.
A child of the forest, I put myself through college to become an art teacher. I taught art for 30+ years at every level and concurrently worked my art. I traveled throughout Wisconsin doing art fairs during the summer months and became affiliated with the Center for the Visual Arts in Wausau in the early 90’s. My studio has been everything from a basement to an attic room. Wherever there was space, I worked. Along the way, as a lifelong Wisconsinite, I met and worked with countless fellow Midwest artists and have loved every moment. I cannot exist without painting and drawing. Every day is a new challenge.
