Sandra Achterberg

I have made fibers my choice of media for many years. It started early in my life with various techniques taught to me by my grandmother. Over the years I continued to search and learn more skills. I eventually earned a master’s degree in fibers from UW-Oshkosh
My current work involves fibers, along with mixed media constructed in a relief style form. Most of the art is constructed using a wooden box as a base and adding fabric, enhanced with embroidery, beads and other treatments. Oftentimes another box is embedded into the base in which a handmade book or objects are placed. My art is meant to tell a story and get the viewer engaged.
